Microgenesis signs an agreement with Paramount Pictures for the distribution of its content through OpenForCommerce

Microgenesis, a Madrid-based technology consulting firm, announces the signing of an agreement with Paramount Pictures for the distribution of its content, to be carried out through OpenforCommerce. Microgenesis will facilitate the digital distribution of Paramount content contained in Paramount Pictures’ Catalogue.

This agreement allows Microgénesis to offer high quality downloading and rental of music, new movie releases and classical films. Client companies will be able to purchase material and use their own label for distribution purposes.

This Microgénesis-Paramount agreement is attracting a great deal of attention in the Spanish as well as European markets in that individuals and companies are seeing the benefits of legal, efficient and high quality downloading capabilities. This agreement further facilitates the growing need in the Spanish digital distribution market and meet the needs of the country’s audiovisual companies.

The MyMedia EU-funded collaborative research project today announced the public release of recommender system software. The project, led by the European Microsoft Innovation Centre (EMIC), based in Aachen, Germany, is exploring the use of intelligent recommender system technology to identify multimedia content such as TV and Radio programs suited to individual users' personal tastes and interests.

EMIC, the coordinator of the project, together with the BBC, BT, Microgenésis, Novay, Eindhoven Technical University and the University of Hildesheim, is developing technology to help make sense of the vast amount of multimedia information available today and to avoid information overload.

The public software release provides all the components required to build a state-of-the-art recommender system consisting of an overall recommender framework, a selection of recommender engines and metadata enrichment components.
